Busta Rhymes - Freakin' You

Hmm, I don't think I like this song...Busta, Missy & Ne-Yo, Produced by Danja. It definitely has potential on paper, but the final product is a bit erm...forgettable.

Anyway my posts with music in them keep gettin taken down *pshhh*

Some Epic Shit

So..how do you upstage a motherfunka while shitting on them in the process? Well if you're Alexadra Burke, you bring out Beyonce as your guest performer when the others had Westlife and Boyzone *cuts eyes*.

It was a shame that goat with the expensive clothes and hair couldn't trot out to perform with JLS, but I think her people realised her voice would be like a cheese grater on JLS' velvety smooth blends. So Louis let Westlife out to play instead.

Anyway, Alexandra and Beyonce shut down the dance, but I do have to say Alexandra had already started pulling down the shutters when she did Silent Night. I wasn't even a big fan at the start, but she killed it.

Too Much

I don't think anyone can justify this. Its a whole heap of madness, from the R.Kelly mask to the slippers. I saw this on ConcreteLoop and it made me chuckle.

Keri

Ok so I love Keri but I have a few concerns....Keri has now released 3 videos from 'In a Perfect World', and Return the Favour was understandable because Energy was such a stupid choice...but they haven't even given Return the favour time to breathe! I mean I know they're not trying to push her over here at all, but it doesn't seem like the single was given any kind of backing and they just moved onto the next video..

While I think Turnin Me On is ok (I think Keri's vocals are waaay to tweaked...even for her) my confidence in her as an artist is dwindling, and her once anticipated album may never see the light of day. Its a shame because she was so hyped up, and her earlier material was fresh (Where Did He Go...Hands & Feet) and then all this shit (and I mean that negatively) started leaking from her album.

I hope they make a decision and either prepare a hot album or send Keri back behind the pen & pad because this is taking all of my energy...(lol)

This Is Too Much

Ok, so when I was a young'n, Dance Dance Revolution was the shit. I would spend most of my pocket money at the Trocadero (remember Segaworld?) dancing my ass off and thinking I was way cool (which I was).

So maybe a good decade after the series begun, some fool has decided to make a musical about DDR. Don't ask me how, or why, but it is happening.

They can turn anything into a musical these days can't they? I actually don't know where they found the 40+ cast for this. All I know is the production will play the Ohio Theater, December 3rd - 20th. Be there or be erm..better off?

Talk That Shit

Timbaland, T-Pain, Missy Elliott.

Missy's version was leaked on Freestyle Steve's myspace. I dunno who's album this is gonna be on, I think its too early for Block Party (if its ever gonna come out...)
Anyway the track is nice, better than Best Best, but still a bit bland for me..

Keri & Missy

No its not a sex tape, and no there's no collab. Just random Keri tracks & Missy features.

DJ Khaled - She's Fine (Feat. Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes & Sean Paul)
Its a shame none of these artists are relevant right now (yes not even Missy)

Pussycat Dolls - Whatcha Think About That (Feat. Missy)

I'm still waiting for Missy to spit on the 'I Kissed a Girl' remix as well as Da Brat (from prison), Queen Latifa and Lindsay Lohan on backing vocals. You know it would be hot...lol

Keri Hilson - Return the Favour (Feat. Timbaland)

Keri Hilson - Slow Dance

Keri Hilson - Mic Check (Feat. Akon)

Keri Hilson - Do it

I'm a bit worried that Keri's album is slowly leaking (soakin' wet) all over the place.
These tracks are nice..but this sounds like its gonna be an album for the moment...no longevity. Return the Favour would have been a much better single than that bullshit Energy, I mean its nice but its not doing anything at all. The label are not handling her right at all, they should be watching Jazmine Sullivan's team for tips on how to actually promote. Notice with Jazmine...her album is coming out this month, and no full HQ tracks have leaked apart from the single, that's big these days.

Anyway, I'm not gonna post it because it will tarnish my blog, but how pie worthy is Lil Kim's tune with Wyclef & Mavado...come on Kim, fix your face please. (Listen) Compare Foxy's tune with Mavado with this one..who shits on who...its no contest...

Miseducation

Its been 10 years since "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" was released, that right there makes me feel a little older. After 10 years, this album remains one of the most refreshing albums I have had the pleasure of listening to.

Now I was just listening to 'Keri Hilson - Mic Check' and then switched to 'Lauryn Hill - Ex-Factor' and the contrast between the synthetic Timbaland beat and the organic beauty that can be found on every single track on 'The Miseducation' was shockingly stark.

Rolling Stone has put together an article about the creative process behind 'The Miseducation' and also the drama which followed its success. Quoting several people who worked on the album and including excerpts from an interview with Lauryn from back in the day, the article highlights the great effort which was put into making the record.
Lauryn's character was always presented through the media as a person who effortlessly spat fire and oozed soul. I feel like her superhero mask has been taken off, maybe that's a bit naive of me.

My favourite quote is from Lauryn herself, and it shows that the basic ideas were always hers;

"I don't like to use compressors and take away my textures, because I was raised on music that was recorded before technology advanced to the place where it could be smooth."
Anyway, read the article and reminisce.

Carnival Time

So...If you're going Notting Hill Carnival this year and you're wondering which tunes will be massaging your ear drums, here are my predictions:

Movado - So Special
Yeah its been out from long time but it appears to still be riding high in the charts

Elephant Man - Nuh Linga / Holy Ghost / What A Mighty God
Ele always steps up his game this time of year. Dancehall always becomes nice for the summer. Everyone is guaranteed to be doing the Nuh Linga and Sweep..

Voicemail - Gangalee
Not too sure if this one will make it but Gangalee is a funny dance man

Other noteable tunes:
Movado - On the Rock / Overcome / Money Changer
Assassin - Guide & Protect
Ching Ching - Chi Ching

I would upload these but I'm at work..

Question

If you were with someone for one year exactly, and you were not their 'official girl' yet...what are you doing?

It seems like a long shot that Cassie had any input in writing this so I'll leave the Diddy comments at the door, and instead talk about Wayne's constipated voice at the end of the track. Take a shit before you come into the booth please.

Edit: Cassie has my phone too..what's going on..its not even new..? She looks nice in the Bugatti, but we all know she can't afford it. [haterr]

August Mix Bitches

I decided to make a mix, yes it been a while but music has been a bit dry. Good music should I say. Dancehall is getting harder to find and I'm becoming lazier.

Download the August mix by clicking HERE

If you wanna know what any tunes are ask..I may post a tracklist if I can be bothered (but I probably won't)

Kanye West - Champion

This video made me laugh..this is the Olympic version

Blueprint 3 Is Coming

Kanye premiered this track at one of his shows in NY last week. The leak has happened and to me, the track is nuts.
Kanye's done well on this one, it has an old school vibe and would easily freeze a dance.
Word is Kanye will produce most if not all of The Blueprint 3 (despite Timbaland's claims he would be producing the whole thing..).

Regardless, if this track is anything to judge the album by, BP3 will be ridiculous.

Jay-Z - Jockin' Jay-Z (Dope Boy Fresh)

Pray Tell..

Why is everyone on M.I.A - Paper Planes all of a sudden when it was about around a year ago? Maybe it just got release officially or something I dunno. Its #16 on the Billboard top 100 right now and remixes have been popping up everywhere...

Preparing For Teedra's Return

Have you still got 'Complex Simiplicity' in your CD player? That shit still gets rotation from me years after its release, which is a big look these days.

Teedra has been working on her sophmore release 'The Young Lioness' for a hot minute, but now we have an indication that the wait is almost over.

'So Kool' was premiered over at ConcreteLoop and then on Teedra's Myspace and I had to rip it (sorry). Its different from the material on Teedra's 1st album but still essentially Teedra. I'm glad to hear she hasn't compromised her sound and done any foolishness like put The Dream on a track lol

Anyway, enjoy it.

Bishi Bashy Special

I'm gonna try and do this regularly but in all honesty it won't happen.

A couple of mixes for you, not so new but I don't care.

Tear Up Jeans Riddim Mix

Sexy Girl Riddim Mix

A lot of new riddims which are coming out now are just old ones tweaked a bit (martial arts riddim > self defence riddim etc..). While this was refreshing for a minute, its now becoming a bit dead and meaningless. The 85 Riddim was crafted from the 1st digitally made dancehall riddim, but all these other ones are just being made for the sake of it.

On a positive note, Ward 21 seem to be killing it with their recent sounds, they know what type of bass would really freeze a dance.

My Drive-Thru

Pharell, Santogold and Julian Casablancas. The three got together for a Converse ad campaign.

Produced By Pharrell - Santogold, Julian Casablancas, N.E.R.D.

Bang the best

There's loadsa tunes I wanna post but haven't and now its like, shame they're a bit old.

Anyway, I had the pleasure of seeing Alicia Keys live a couple of days ago and let me tell whoever's reading that it was amazing. Her set was well put together (bar a few tunes she could have left out) and she included some nice interpolations (like Get Your Freak On during Ghetto Story and Step In The Name of Love during Unbreakable..I think). But her vocals were on point, she looked good and her backing singers were fucking on point, so much so they did a few solo's when Alicia went backstage to jam.

Yeah so here's a song for you,
Busta Rhymes - I Got Bass

Bangladesh has consistantly been making supreme beats, I hope he doesn't get excited and saturate the market after the way A Milli was received.

Missy Elliott - Best Best

Oh fuck me. Missy's 1st single from the album 'Block Party' droppin September sometime. Produced by Danjahandz, this one is definitely different. While I think its hot, I'm not too sure if its 1st single material, but THIS is the type of shit I wanna hear from Missy...not no ching ching foolishness.

Serani - The Future

Download here

Serani and his camp have been doing big things in Dancehall. Dasaeca has been crafting a crisp and modern sound, and Bugle's doing alright too.
Anyway, I'm impressed with Serani. 'Doh' is everywhere and probably burning down dances (I haven't been to a good one in ages so I wouldn't know..shame). The Future contains dancehall, reggae and some r&b/hip-hop tracks, I'm suprised my favourite Serani track 'Romance' isn't on the album though.

Hero

Nas - Hero (feat. Keri Hilson)

Alot of new shit from Nas has been leaking (by Nas' standards)...this track has him spit on a Polow beat with a hint of Keri Hilson. She must have been in the studio at the time cos there ain't no way she would reach the studio just to sing 'hero' and 'mm'.

Turns out this is the 1st single from 'Untitled' dropping in 2 weeks. This album is gonna be good.

New Keri Hilson

Supposedly the 1st single.

Keri Hilson - Energy

Beyonce's Leak

So 1st it was Beautiful Nightmare and now a few more tracks have surfaced. They are kinda different still.

Forever to Bleed (or Should Have..?) definitely has that Ryan Tedder/Apologise vibe, and B also does a lil Leona type run at the end (If Ryan did have a hand in this..whats up with all the bleeding?). None the less its quite good for a demo.

Kick Him Out (dont have anything to say for this one...)

New Shoes had me thinking Freekum Dress part 2, but she's on some metaphor shit.

These tracks that are leaking though, makes me think someone hates Beyoncè or that these tracks will never make the album (which they probably won't now regardless). But she probably has hundreds of songs like these which will never get heard.

I'm honestly not that hype about The Carter III...Weezy is overhyped, everyone is on his nuts. Do you remember tracks from The Carter II? Do you still play it today? hmm

N.E.R.D - Spaz (Or Spaz Out it don't matter)

The song is dope, I'm feeling their new stuff. Apparently Lindsay Lohan is gonna be in the video for 'Everyone Nose' which is fuckin hilarious.

Sidenote...I can't believe Mariah actually got married, and Nick Cannon has one fuck off MARIAH tattooed on his back...shame on them.

Amnesia and shit

Dirty foot bitches unite. The budget was obviously blown. How's the Rick Ross lookalike gonna wear a snickers jacket? And you know they couldn't really afford to throw that iPhone off the balcony.
I remember a while back the main bitch in this was sayin her male friends used to recommend airing the dick out while driving back from a link to void the results of sniffing a pee pee. Its too much

Foxy Browns First Day Home From Rikers

Monday, 14 April 2008

Erm...Alicia?

‘Gangsta rap’ was a ploy to convince black people to kill each
other. ‘Gangsta rap’ didn’t exist.”
Keys, 27, said she’s read several Black
Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck “to
symbolize strength, power and killing ‘em dead
,” according to an interview in
the magazine’s May issue, on newsstands Tuesday.
Another of her theories:
The bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was
fueled “by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from
existing.”
Though she’s known for her romantic tunes, she told Blender that she
wants to write more political songs. If black leaders such as the late Black
Panther Huey Newton “had the outlets our musicians have today, it’d be global. I
have to figure out a way to do it myself,” she said. [source]

Hmm ok Alicia. The gold AK is taking it a bit far I think. Alicia always seemed to be a level headed individual but damn, the government killed Tupac and Biggie? Maybe she should go jam with Mohammed Al Fayed cos them theories will never be proved.

Few more things

Busta Rhymes - Don't Touch Me Now
Busta is nuts, this is good but it will be dead in a few days

Lil Wayne - A Milli
Bleh..ready to be overplayed

Ludacris - Stay Together
This is lame..luda needs to man up

A bit and a bob

Firstly, Estelle's album. Go and buy it. Shine is amazing.

There's a wide range of material from 'So Much Out of The Way' (Wyclef on the buttons), to the old school 'Pretty Please' and the beautiful one-drop 'Come Over'.
Estelle doesn't have the best voice but she definitely knows how to use harmonies...or at least has learnt from Mr Legend.

Its different to The18th Day, which had a few nuggets of perfection (Change is Coming, Hey Girl) but this time you feel that a lot of effort has gone into the album. I actually bought this one, you should too.

On another note...I've been meaning to post this Cherish track for time. It's like a carbon copy of Nsync's Gone. These bitches need to hurry up and drop 'The Truth'.

Foolishness

Shoutout to Charles for the heads up

People wonder why the 'urban' scene doesn't get much support, this is why....because people decide to go out full of hype and do utter foolishness.
I knew the goonbags couldn't handle Weezy and something would go down somewhere, but I am surprised it was at Stratford Rex.

Apparently there was some madness going on in the audience at one point, and someone even managed to get on stage (erm...security?) causing Wayne to cuss them and continue performing. A bit later on Wayne was walking around the stage (I don't know why) and someone threw a bottle at him. Obviously this pissed him off and he walked off stage.

But WHY would you go to a fucking concert and fling something at the performer? Its inconsiderate people like this that ruin shit for everyone who just came for a show. Sameway dickheads in dances who bring beef along with them get raves locked off...or just dead the mood, but obviously violence will never have a positive effect on the mood. I just don't see the point. It seems that people here feel like they gotta prove a point to the Americans by doing fuckeries like this when in actual fact it just ruins future prospects and can tarnish promoters reputations.

Watch the video below

LMAO

Bless Robert trying to remain relevant. Apparently he's a beast and his career is soaring but his personal life is a mess.
Now we all know his personal life is a mess, a sprawling mess in fact, but his proclamation that his career is soaring is a bit rich (which he also points out he is).
R.Kelly annoys me, because he is a grown ass man and he really needs to calm down. He's like one of them really old hustlers that live this babyboy lifestyle (ahem) and everyone talks about how lame they are behind their back.

Anyway, enough rantin. Listen to R.Kelly come at Ne-Yo (allegedly). All young gayface needs to do is replay Dave Chappelle's 'Piss On You' and Kells is dead.

Perfect Couple?

Cee-Lo kills me, I mean he always used to dress funny in his Goodie Mobb days but I dunno about a wedding dress. The 2nd picture is a lot tho, you can really see the contours in Cee-Lo's head.

Missy Update

Get your 3D glasses ready for the Ching-A-Ling/Shake Your Pom Pom video premiering next week, supposedly featuring Japanese (I'm really hot anyone..?) and Bollywood dancers.

Ciara has put down a verse for the Ching-A-Ling Remix, bleh

The full version of Shake Your Pom Pom is out too, bleh again.

I suppose these tunes are alright for a soundtrack. She needs to fix the fuck up for the album tho.

Bashy

Bad Gal Sittin Riddim

Produced by Ward 21 (who I must say have been churning out niiice beats of late), this riddim only has female vocals, I dunno if its the 1st time its been done, but yeh, I can imagine chicks goin wild in a dance.
Tifa is killin it with Crawny Gal, and Ms Thing didn't do too bad either.

thanks to malachi for the link

Elevator

I hated 'Low' but this tune is alright. Catchy, good choice for a 2nd single, way to keep the hype.
I still don't like Flo Rida tho, and I wudn't surprised if this wasnt actually produced by timbo.

Most Hated On

Soulja Boy, I choose you.

Why I hear you say? Hmm because he is wack maybe? So Crank Dat was hot for a minute, and it may have got him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song (which speaks volumes of the quality of 'rap music' out now) but really people, if you're over 18 then you need to leave it alone. I don't wanna hear 'Yah Bitch' as a ringtone, I don't wanna see 'Soulja Girl' as a myspace page song. No. I heartily laugh at the fact that he now thinks he is the hottest rapper in the game.

Its ok anyway because the universe won't let such fukery continue, and Soulja Boy will fade away just like Young Chris, DJ UNK, and like I wish T-Pain would.

Well, DMX's gospel album will surely save us all

More Missy

I hate snippets but whatever. This 30secs, however is a preview to what sounds like a hot mess. I hope this is not the direction Missy is going in for the new album because these tunes will vanish like all the other bubblegum rap tracks out there now.
But on a brighter note..Ching a Ling's video will be out soon and Missy will be thrust into the spotlight again. No more late night bootycalls.
If you see Missy in a club buy her a Ginger Beer lol

OLED TV's

Ok, I know this is meant to be a music blog, but I am a geek at heart, and these TV's are sexy looking.

OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diodes, and stands to become a household name within the next year or so. The format promises better picture quality, thinner screens and lower power consumption.
These OLED TV's apparently have a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, which is nuts. So if you think you're ready for the HD (lol) now then you're in for a shock.
This will give the procrastinators a reason not to buy an LCD yet, and those of use who have a reason to be slightly pissed.

Don't get too excited though, Sony's 11 inch model pictured above is only £1,300. So no doubt a normal sized screen will rape you (financially of course).

Ok I'm done.

New Missy!

Missy Elliott - Ching-A-Ling
This is taken from the Step Up 2 OST and her new album, Its nice to hear some new Missy, sounds like a Swizz Beats production.
Its a bit different to anything missy's done before, but it does have that Swizzy Touch It/Tambourine vibe going on.
Also, what's up with the 'This is a Missy Elliott exclusive'...ain't no one tell her this isn't Under Construction?

Edit: The track was produced by The Arkitects. I'm not very pleased with the track, and I hope it is not included on the album (which will probably keep getting pushed back....)

Couple..

..of tunes to hit you with.

Est'elle - American Boy (Feat. Kanye West)

It seems being signed to John Legend's label was a good move as she's had two solid songs from her new project.
I'm diggin her

Lil Wayne - The Only Reason (Feat. Sizzla)
Hmm...I'm late on this one but is it me or does Dwayne's Patois sound like Pidgeon English?? Also, Sizzla...Sizzla, what have they reduced you to? 'Its on and poppin' no no no. Sizzla needs to stop doing lame features, that's what Junior Reid's career has been revived for..

Rap Up

2007 for me was kool...a lot of movement and change. Im not feelin 2008 yet..it doesn't roll off my tongue right.

Skillz is back with a rap up. This time he has a video...with clips of the events he speaks of, and lookalikes too (lmao @ the Umbrella video)

Shit is funny..I'm glad he hates T-Pain too

Happy New Year
