It was released in 1982, but I know that in my younger years there was still hype about that album, and to this day people can still listen to Thriller the whole way through (see if anyone will be listening to Soulja Boy Tell 'em in 2033..)

Foxy Brown will spend the next year in jail for violating her probation -- and she's going straight back to a cell on Rikers Island, where she's spent the last two weeks.

TMZ was in the courtroom when it all went down, and Judge Melissa Jackson slammed Foxy's pleas for mercy, calling her a "great actress," and saying that if this were the first time she'd apologized, she might be believable, but not now. We're told that Foxy was visibly distraught by the verdict, and her mother refused to talk to reporters outside. Foxy originally was sentenced to the probation after an assault on two employees at a nail salon in Manhattan in 2004.

Outside the courtroom, cops from New Jersey -- where she allegedly lied to cops about her birthdate and state of residence -- told TMZ that she got what she deserved. Interesting note: if she serves the full term, Foxy will give birth in prison, though she made no reference to her pregnancy in her

The bad news didn't stop with the jail sentence: Brown (real name: Inga Marchand) was also indicted in Kings County today on charges that she bashed a Brooklyn woman's head with her BlackBerry, and she still faces assault charges in Florida arising from an incident in which she allegedly spat on and threw hair glue at a beauty salon employee.

Brown's lawyer told TMZ that he thought her punishment was too harsh, and that she was being made an example of by the judge. She could be eligible for parole in eight months with allowances for good behavior.

August 22, 2007 -- A Manhattan judge threw Foxy Brown behind bars on a probation violation charge this morning -- a stunning blow to a rascally rapper who's uncanny ability to remain free despite numerous scuffles with the law had made her appear jail-proof.

Foxy -- who is three months pregnant, according to her lawyer -- will spend at least two weeks, until Sept. 7, in Rikers, which has a pre-natal unit for pregnant inmates.

Then she'll be hauled out before the same Manhattan Criminal Court judge for a hearing on charges she has flouted the rules of probation and deserves to be jailed for a year -- the maximum sentence allowed on her original offense, beating two Chelsea nail salon workers during a 2004 fight over the bill.

Probation department lawyer Matilda Leo gave Judge Melissa Jackson four reasons why Foxy has "abused the privilege [of probation] to the point of no return."

First among them, Leo said, is Foxy getting arrested earlier this month for allegedly whacking a Brooklyn neighbor in the face with her Blackberry, giving the woman a loose tooth and a bruised eye in an apparent fight over the volume of Foxy's car stereo.

Her other alleged probation offenses include missing court-ordered appointments with her anger management therapists and probation officer, along with recently getting busted in Bergen County on a traffic infraction when she’d not asked for probation permission to go to New Jersey.
Foxy's lawyer, state Sen. John Sampson, argued in vain that the pending Brooklyn Blackberry-bash charges were weak, and that the performer's life was turning around.

"She's getting married; she's three months pregnant, she signed a record deal two weeks ago, and she is in contract for a reality TV show," Sampson said.

But the judge -- who has had a sometimes stormy, two-year courtroom history with Foxy -- was unmoved. Foxy has publicly derided the judge for having "a disdain for hip hop" the judge once had Foxy cuffed to a bench for snapping her gum and sticking her tongue out at her from the defense podium.

"The defendant is going to be remanded pending her hearing," Jackson announced from the bench. When Foxy stared back, blankly, the judge repeated herself with a slight smile, "That's a remand. Thank you!" Then the cuffs went on, and Foxy teetered toward the cells, looking stunned, in her black, patent leather, peek-toed, five-inch stiletto Fendi pumps.

In 2007 Braxton became the only African American artist to enter the top Las Vegas concerts chart and has maintained her dominance throughout the year. Toni Braxton’s original contract worth a reported 7 million dollars was extended in late 2006 and was due to conclude in July 2007. It's been six years since she's dropped an album, but with the release of a new album and mixtape on the horizon, rapper Foxy Brown is primed for a comeback. The as-yet-untitled mixtape will hit the streets in June, followed Sept. 6 by the album "Black Roses," which will be released on Brown's new label of the same name.

"No disrespect to anyone, but gear up baby, because when I come, it's over," Brown tells Billboard.com in an exclusive interview. "This album is going to be a lyrical testimony of everything I've gone through and survived the last couple of years. It's just incredible."

Though Brown declined to reveal details, she did disclose she plans on collaborating with Jay-Z, Spragga Benz, Baby Cham and a few other unexpected acts. "I'm a huge fan of Amy Winehouse and Bjork," she confesses about two of the people she hopes to work with for the project.

According to Brown, who recently recovered from hearing loss and has been in and out of court following a dispute with a nail salon worker for the past year, "Black Roses," named after a Barrington Levy song by the same name, is a testament to the hardships she's faced in the music industry.

"I feel like I've had to fight that much harder than [Lil'] Kim and Lauryn [Hill] and Missy [Elliott]. But God took away my hearing for a reason -- to trip me down and build me back up and come back into this business right," Brown says.

"Barrington told me he was inspired to write 'Black Roses' when he went to Africa and there, in a garden, amongst a thousand beautiful flowers, he saw one black rose that was withered and broken, and how tourists would fly in from all over the world to take pictures of it," she continues. "I have to save some lives, and that's what 'Black Roses' is officially for. That's why the title is so perfect."

In addition, Brown recently inked a management deal with Black Hand Entertainment and plans on signing a few West Indian acts to her new label.

Rap-Up.com had the chance to listen to Kelly Rowland’s entire sophomore album Ms. Kelly last week. The album has 12 tracks and is about 45 minutes long. Kelly co-wrote 9 of the 12 tracks. Here’s a track by track breakdown of what you can expect when the album drops June 26.

1. “Like This” featuring Eve

We’ve all heard this song by now. It’s our favorite track on the album and definitely was the right choice for the first single. Kelly did another song with Eve last year called “Gotsta Go” which did not make the album.

2. “Comeback”

Catchy, upbeat song and the first of two Scott Storch produced tracks on the CD. On the hook, Kelly sings: “I got that comeback, that hubba bubba…I got a lifetime warranty, guarantee you’ll never leave.”

We were told that it was between this and “Work (Put It In)” for the second single. This is our second favorite track off the album after “Like This.” This would get our vote for the second single, but “Ghetto” with Snoop is probably a safer choice. 5. “Flash Back”

You might have heard this song already. It was leaked to the Internet a while ago. Kelly sings: “I wish I could relive the past.” The album version is pretty much the same as the one that’s on the net. The instrumental reminds us of the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland.

6. “Every Thought Is You”

Another song that has already hit the net. This mid-tempo number is one of the more forgettable tracks.

One of the standout tracks. Mid-tempo love song with lyrics like, “It’s a cold, cold world out there…And when it rains it pours out there…The grass ain’t greener on the other side…I knew you would return once you saw the real deal.” Mysto & Pizzi have worked with Cassie and Nina Sky. Kelly co-wrote this one with Beyoncé’s sister Solange who wrote two tracks on 2002’s Simply Deep. Look out for Solange’s album this September.

11. “Better Without You”

Another song that was probably influenced by Kelly’s ex. Guitar-driven track where Kelly talks about moving on from her past relationship. “I’m pursuing my goals,” she sings.

Bahamas Coroner delivers verdict in Aaliyah death crash

ABACO, Bahamas: Pathologists have confirmed that Aaliyah died from severe burns and a blow to the head, after the 2001 plane crash in the Bahamas.

The coroner's inquest, carried out by Dr. Giovander Raju on crash site Abaco Island, also confirmed that the 22 year-old singer suffered from a weak heart, reports Billboard.

"Aaliyah went into such a state of shock, even if she had survived the crash, recovery would have been near impossible," explained Raju.

The singer, and eight others, died after the chartered Cessna 402B, carrying the singer and her entourage from Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas to Miami's Opa-locka, crashed soon after take-off on August 25 2001. The plane was overloaded by an estimated 700 pounds.

Aaliyah's parents have since reached an undisclosed settlement with Blackhawk International Airways Corp, the plane's operator, owners Skystream Inc, Gilbert Chacon and flight broker Atlantic Flight Group in a negligence lawsuit.

I don't usually hate publically, i jus do it in secret. But after hearing people talk about T-Pain like he is good, i felt to go public.

I don't like T-Pain, or Akon. In fact the whole konvict music movement can suck my xtra strong polos. These dudes are jumping on everything...everything, and they don't have that much talent. This beat is sooooooooo boring, its supposedly produced Tim, but if Tim gave you this, would you not feel insulted? It doesn't switch or anything man. I think this was another Icebox type movement and Royal Court did this joint.

Anyway, its nice to see Fab back in the game...From Nothing To Something will be released in June apprently. The track is quite smooth tho, but compared to Can't Let You Go and Trade It All..it is nothing. Some of Ne-Yo's harmonies are beautiful and complement the beat so well.

Earth Intruders is produced by Timbaland (hence my peaked interest). Production-wise the sound is nice, different, and not a bait Timbo one. I did hear that Tim did beats and Björk reworked them and shit.

I decided to post the remixes because I am a fan of Dre when he spits. He's tight as a singer too, but I like the way he's taken his flow back to the Aquemini and Stankonia days. Its funny though cos Andre's spittin like a beast on his features, he better save some of this shit for later.
